Nathan Barker, West Jefferson, NC Death: Mr. Nathan Douglas Barker, age 41, of Deep Gap, formerly of Jefferson, passed away Thursday morning, January 16, 2025, at his home. Nathan’s unexpected passing has left a deep void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. A beloved son, brother, father, and friend, Nathan’s warmth, humor, and generosity will be remembered forever by those whose lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, with Rev. Johnny Sloan, Rev. Nathan Seatz, and Rev. John Elledge officiating. The family warmly invites all who knew Nathan to attend and share their memories and stories of him during this time of fellowship. Nathan will be laid to rest at Wallace Cemetery beside his father, Ronnie, where his family will forever remember him.
Nathan was born on November 29, 1983, in Wilkes County to the late Ronald Douglas “Ronnie” Barker and Betty Barnes Barker. He grew up in Jefferson, a small town where he made countless memories with his family, friends, and neighbors. Nathan’s relationship with his parents was one built on love and trust, and the bond he shared with them remained a guiding force throughout his life. t55He was preceded in death by his father, Ronnie Barker; his maternal grandparents, Emmett and Wylene Barnes; his paternal grandparents, Nadine and Joe Craven; and his uncle, Randy Barker. Nathan’s passing has left a sorrowful ache in the hearts of his family, but the legacy of love, laughter, and faith he leaves behind will remain steadfast.
Nathan’s professional life was marked by his hard work, dedication, and leadership. Over the years, he worked for several electrical companies, including Pike Electric, T&D Solutions, and most recently, Blue Ridge Electric, where he served as a crew leader. Nathan was known for his skill, reliability, and excellent work ethic, and he built strong friendships and relationships with many of his coworkers. His contributions to his profession and his commitment to his colleagues left a lasting impact in the community.
